Raj Mandir Cinema is a famous movie theatre in Jaipur in Rajasthan state in India. Situated on the Bhagwan Das Road, near M.I. Road, the meringue-shaped auditorium opened in 1976, and over the years has seen many movie premieres of Hindi films, and has become a popular symbol of Jaipur.

History

Raj mandir is one of Asia’s largest theater halls. On 1st June 1976, Shri Hari Dev Joshi, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan at that time, inaugurated this grand theatre. The first film to be screened here was the Bollywood flick Charas. In 1966, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Mohanlal Sukhadia, laid the foundation stone for this amazing theater. For Shri Mehrab Chandra Golcha, RajMandir was more of a dream Project. It was his dream to build a grand beautiful entertainment spot which can be the best example of Modern and Stylish Jaipur. The task started under the supervision of Shri Mehtab Chandra after the event of foundation stone. He guided and supervised this project and after lot’s of hard work and dedication, this place was developed into a very stunning royal entertainment place. The credit to this beautiful place goes completely to the creativity of Mehtab Chandra.

It took around ten years to construct this grand piece of entertainment. Shri W. M. Namjoshi designed this beautiful theater in a very artistic stylish modern way and gave the place very elegant and stunning look. Currently, the popular jewelers of Jaipur, Bhuramal Rajmal Surana owns this grand place.

Structural planning

Rajmandir is popular all over the world for its super stylish architecture and royal structure and design. The exterior of the Raj Mandir consists of several asymmetrical shapes, zig-zags, curves. The place looks more beautiful during the lighting in the nights. During the entrance of theater, the only things that comes in mind is the word ‘wow’ as it welcomes its tourists with its ‘Nine stars’ which are the symbol of the nine gemstones and it also denotes the occupation of Surana Jewelers, current owners of the theater.

The inner part of the theatre is even more stunning. One might be stunned by observing the extravagantly finished roof. This beautiful place The hall resembles a royal palace with grand Chandeliers dangling from the main theatre. In the main hall, there is a rising staircase next to the lobby which further adds charm to the stylish theatre.

The Raj Mandir Cinema is prepared to screen 70mm movies, The seating capacity of the theater of about 1300 people which makes it one of the biggest halls in India. There are 4 categories namely Pearl, Ruby. Emerald and Diamond, among which this seating capacity is divided. The main hall is decorated with the curtains which are draped in velvet.
